Los Angeles Again but with Kids!

Over the years, my husband and I have travelled to Los Angeles together without the kids. We’ve just booked a trip for the end of October to escape the (not-so-cold-yet!) weather here and this time the kids are coming with us. Earlier this year all of us went to Universal Studios and Disney World in Orlando, but we plan to surprise the kids again with the west coast version and at least take them to Universal Studios in Hollywood. The huge bonus is the Super Mario attraction at Universal which is a childhood favourite Nintendo game of mine, and also one of my eldest daughter’s.

Planning a trip to LA with kids has been totally different than the previous times we visited without them. No Beverly Hills clubs, Nobu dining in Malibu, or Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier past sunset on bicycle adventures. This time, we’ll be out during the day and hitting as many kid-friendly, exciting spots as we can. We usually book one event per day when we’re with them otherwise we might rush to fit it all in, and inevitably all of us become overtired taking away from the restful ease of travelling to a gorgeous, sunny location!

Below is a list of spots we plan to check out on our trip, and photos of past trips we’ve taken to LA which convey a vibe we’ll surely experience this time around as well.

We will be there for 7 days so we’ve planned events for 5 days, leaving a couple of days for exploring local eateries and shops with afternoons spent hanging out by the pool at our hotel or popping down to the beach to play.

Spots we plan to visit

  1. Universal Studios Hollywood (2 days)

  2. Warner Brothers Studios (we plan to take the tour)

  3. Santa Monica Pier (a ferris wheel right on the beach, a great Mexican and lots of little shops)

  4. Lego Land

The maybe list (if time allows and we feel up for it)
The Last Bookstore in downtown LA
Hollywood Boulevard (we’ve been before and aside from the walk of fame we don’t think it’ll wow the kids much)
    Laguana Beach
    Fossil Tar Pits
    Broad Museum
    California Science Centre

Stay tuned for news of the trip and find out what we loved the most to help with your next getaway!
